As I reflect back on my life so far I have realized that I'm really just an average girl, with an average life, living with an average disease. But what I do have is an AMAZING God who continues to blow me away with His love and His grace in my life. This is my attempt at putting into writing my journey so far.

yay! a blog from grammy. i have missed your blogs!

first off i want to say very nice to the floors in matt and trace's place. i can't wait to see them in person in about a month! that will be a fun spontaneous trip. who says you can't be spontaneous with a child. :) and i'm excited to be able to hang out with you mare before you trek off to alaska. i'm looking forward to cheering you on in your bike adventures.

so this weekend was busy and long yet a lot fun too. we headed for Raleigh, NC on Friday leaving Hannah behind with Joe and Meredith. They had a great time with each other which was good to hear. Joe said it was mentally exhausting, but he would do it again in a heartbeat. welcome to my world! :) we arrived in Raleigh about 8:30pm and checked into our hotel room. we then headed off to the cheesecake factory for some din din. we actually got a meal there that we enjoyed. we have yet to really enjoy something, except of course for the desserts. we recommend the chicken stuffed tortillas if any of you go there again.

it was so nice and relaxing to just go to bed and wake up on our own schedule. of course we were both up by 8am unfortunately, but it was still relaxing. we then found out that my parents who only left 30 minutes behind us got stuck in 5 bad snow storms and was not able to make it to raleigh. i felt so bad for them especially since we got the hotel thru priceline so they had to pay for 2 hotels. but saturday was a beautiful day and raleigh is a really pretty city. there are trees everywhere and people are so nice. we got jenn moved into her place and got it all fixed up for her. it looks so cute. she is definitely the creative one of the siblings. she painted her bedroom and family room and painted a cool block design on one of her walls in her bedroom. it was very trading spaces.

one funny story from the weekend...when we got our cheesecakes on friday night we were too full to eat them and then we ended up being too tired to eat them later. but if you know my family you know that you can't have food around them without them eating half of it so we contemplated eating the cheesecakes for breakfast, but decided against that. then we decided we would put them in our little cooler with some ice and hide the cooler in the car and not mention them and eat them when we get back to the hotel later that night. i know it sounds so sad, but we were really stressing about getting our fair share of cheesecake. when you pay $6 for one piece you want to enjoy every last bite. so we proceeded with our day, but part way through unloading the truck, Jenn tripped going down the stairs and hurt her ankle. so as she was laying there i went to get some ice for it from her freezer and she didn't have any. i can't believe i'm going to admit this out loud, but there is my sister laying on the steps crying in pain and my first thought after seeing there is no ice was..."dang it, we are going to have to use the ice in our cooler and they are going to know we have cheesecake." but at least i saw the light and we got the cooler and got jenn all fixed up. her ankle was fine by the way if anyone was wondering, just a little sore. so i hid the cheesecakes in the bottom drawer hoping everyone would forget about them and later that night my mom and jenn went to walmart and my dad went out to take some boxes the dumpster and ryan looks at me and says.."don't you think now would be a good time to eat our cheesecake before they remember they are there." so we dive for the fridge and enjoy our cheesecakes and it was worth the wait and every bite! :) later that night my sister saw the containers in the trash and pouts..."oh..you ate your cheesecake already"...whew! that was a close call. i don't think i was ever that protective of my food before and i hope that i never will be again. it was pretty sad, but still a funny and long story.

the ride home was long but fun. it's always entertaining with my dad around. we played the band game where you go through the alphabet and name a band that begins with that letter. after a 4 hour game and a dinner break i was the champion! it was between my dad and i for about an hour. my brain hurt after that and i couldn't stop thinking of band names even after we were done.

welp i better get the banana up. have a great week!
