this is a good day all! The day started off when I heard Caleb stirring around and assumed it was 4 or 4:30 like usual and looked at the clock and it was 6:48am! Then had a good workout at the YMCA while Hannah and Caleb hung out in the Kid's Corner. And spent a little time with God and now both kids are asleep at home. Praise the Lord! The one thing that God did convict me on this morning is that I need to get back to a place where I can say Praise the Lord and it was a good day despite the circumstances. Not quite there yet, but I'm working on it.
Had an awesome but too short time in Virgina Beach! It was so great being able to turn it into a mini vacation not to mention getting Lifeway to pay for half of it since Ryan was able to turn part of it into a business trip. We were there from Wed to Sunday. Our first hotel was not the greatest inside, but it had a back door just steps from the ocean and a heated pool that was still open. Hannah, Caleb, and I had fun on Thurs while Ry was at work. We swam in the pool, played at the beach and took a walk. Then we got a phone call from Greg Henry inviting us out to dinner. It was great being able to hang out with them and Amanda and Dave. And it was also great that we had a private room at the restaurant so hannah could run around and have fun. We ate at this fun Italian restaurant. My chicken parm tasted a little too much like seafood, but other than that a great time had by all. Then on Friday the cold front came thru and it was too cold to go to the beach or swim, but i didnt' want to sit the hotel room all morning so i asked the front desk if there was a park around. She gave me directions to one that was about a 10-15 minute walk from there, but with Hannah walking who knows how long. But Caleb didn't do very well sleeping when i tried carrying him the baby carrier. it was a bit too bumpy, so i put Caleb in the stroller and Hannah in the carrier. it was a site to see i'm sure with this 30lb almost 3 foot tall girl hanging on the front of me. who knew the baby bjorn would be used even 2 years later. thanks again trace and matt! :) the park was alot of fun and when we got back mom and dad good were already checked into the resort hotel and they came and got us. Friday was spent hanging out, doing some laundry at the hotel since i didn't pack enough for caleb and hannah and picking tracey and matt up at the airport which i talked my way into going and leaving the 2 kids with dad and ryan. then we went to this fun reggae party that amanda and dave had for the out of town guests. it was so much fun and hannah was so cute dancing to the music. she lasted until 10pm! by the end we could tell she had had enough when she was sweetly and quietly singing sweetest little hannah to herself. which was a song that grandpa sang to her for the first time the day before and she knew all of the words. it was adorable.
then saturday tracey, mom and i got to get away and go to the neptune festival which was this fun arts and craft show down by the beach. we saw lots of frivolous decor that we would have bought in a second if we had much money, but instead we just dreamed and admired. the wedding was so elegant and different. and the fact that you could look to your right and see the ocean was very cool! the reception started off just ok for me, because i don't do very well sometimes with being sociable and trying to watch 2 kids. but thanks to tracey's brilliant idea (which by the way i never really thanked you for!), i called the hotel earlier that week to see if they had a baby sitting service and at 8:30pm that night Kyleigh shows up to make my weekend! We were child free and partyed it up right. We danced so much and had such a good time. It felt so good to be an adult without kids for a few hours. The topping on the cake was definitely the yager mister shot with the Goods and Amanda's family! Then followed by pizza at 1am and the hot tub at 1:30am. It made only getting 2 hours of sleep that night totally worth it!
The weekend was way too short, but up there for one of the funnest memories!
well i didn't intend on writing a book about the weekend, but there you have it. i'm going to have to print this blog so i don't have to journal about it again. time to eat lunch and continue enjoying this great day.
have a great weekend all!
